About us:
The Dionysus Wine Club was born inside La Même Chose, our independent wine and spirits shop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Since opening in 2023, we've built our entire shop around one simple principle: every bottle we carry has to earn its place. La Même Chose is an educational wine store where we strive to represent all the major regions of the world.
That same process is the heart of The Dionysus Wine Club.
Eric is a psychiatrist and a CSW (Certified Specialist of Wine) who has spent over two decades collecting, studying, and blind tasting wine. His palate preference is classical and precise, with those from France being a personal favorite.
Mike brings deep experience on the importing and distribution side of the wine industry, paired with a palate shaped by his Puerto Rican heritage and a love of wines that pair beautifully with food. He gravitates toward balance, quality, and bottles that over-deliver for what they cost.
Every month, we taste separately. We compare notes. And we only put a bottle in your box if we both genuinely agree it belongs there. No exceptions.
We prioritize small, independent producers — winemakers who pour their identity into every vintage. We have a particular love for queer-, BIPOC-, and women-owned producers who are making some of the most exciting wines in the world right now. We range widely from the classic appellations of Burgundy and Barolo to overlooked gems from Greece, Lebanon, the Canary Islands, and beyond.
The Dionysus Club is for people who want to explore the world of wine. It's for people who trust that two wine lovers in Brooklyn who do this every single week will find them something better and more interesting than what they can find locally.

How are the wines selected? Every bottle is chosen through independent blind tastings. Mike and Eric taste separately and compare notes. A wine only makes it into the club if both of them genuinely want to drink it. No distributor relationships, no paid placements, no exceptions.
What's included in each shipment? Each monthly shipment includes four bottles of wine selected by Eric and Mike, along with detailed tasting notes and food pairing suggestions written specifically for that month's selections. You're not just getting wine, but you're getting the context to understand and enjoy it.
How much does it cost? The Dionysus Club is $149/month, which includes four curated bottles, founder's tasting notes, and free shipping. No hidden fees.
Which states do you ship to? We ship to a growing list of states — you can see the full current list on the product page when you join. If your state isn't listed, reach out, and we'll let you know when we expand to your area.
When will my box ship? Your first box ships within a week of your order — you don't have to wait for a fixed monthly window. Subsequent shipments go out on a monthly cadence from your sign-up date.
Can I choose red, white, or mixed? Each box typically includes two reds and two whites, giving you a well-rounded selection. If you have a strong preference — more red, more white, or something specific — just let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate you. We love a good conversation about wine.
Can I skip a month or pause my membership? Yes. You can pause, skip, or cancel your membership at any time. Just reach out to us before your next shipment date, and we'll take care of it.

What makes this different from other wine clubs? Most wine clubs are run by wineries trying to move their own inventory, or by large retailers optimizing for margin. We're a small independent shop in Brooklyn with no financial incentive to send you anything other than wine we'd put on our own table. The tasting process means even if we don't know whose wine it is when we select it, we're choosing purely on what's in the glass.
I'm new to wine. Is this club right for me? Absolutely. Our tasting notes are written to be accessible, not intimidating — we'll tell you what to look for, what to pair it with, and a little about where it comes from. Many of our members started as casual wine drinkers and found the club gave them a real foundation. If you ever have questions about a bottle, just reach out. We love talking about wine.
